K on 17 Sep 1862 with his brother Eli Church; sent to Charlottsville Hosp on 7 Dec 1862 with Pneumonia and RTD 13 Jan 1863; listed as deserted 15 Apr 1863 and reportedly found guilty and sentenced to be shot, with other members of the 30th NC, but Court ruled the sentence illegal and he was returned to duty 30 Apr 1864; captured at Farmville, VA on 6 Apr 1865 and sent to Point Lookout, then released 24 June 1865 at City Point, Va.
