Service Record:  He was assigned to several vessels from 1940 and throughout the war, then assigned to the destroyer U.S.S. Longshaw (DD559) in early 1944;  Ship record dated 30 May 1944 says ship put to sea from Pearl Harbor and was on combat operations in the Pacific almost continuously for the next year; He was wounded while on duty with the sinking of the Longshaw on 18 May 1945 off the coast of Okinawa by shore fire and kamikaze attack.
