Service Record:   Enlisted at age 17 in Company B on 20 Nov 1861 at Camp Fisher with his brother William Madison (son of Jesse Wilcox Greer); reenlisted Mar 1862; wounded at Cedar Run on June 1862 and went home; RTD Jan 1863; deserted but returned Aug 1863, then got wounded again with an amputated finger at Charlottsville Hospital, then on furlough Oct 1863; He was listed as dead on two separate occasions in his record. Captured at Hanover Junction, VA and made POW 23 Jun 1864; first sent to Pt. Lookout, MD, then transferred to Elmira NY prison until release 9 May 1865.
