Wounded in action by gunshot wound to the forehead at Gettysburg 1 Jul 1863 and sent to Hosp in Richmond. RTD Nov 1863. Promoted to Cpl 6 Mar 1864. Served to end of war.

Cemetery / Burial:  Exact death date or cause unknown. According to family stories, he was best man at his sister Joyce’s wedding on 14 Mar 1866; no further records on Horton have been found to date. There is no 1870 census for him, so likely died between 1866-1870.
