Service Record:  Enlisted on 23 Oct 1861 in Co. E as a Cpl; transferred to Co. I 4th TX Infantry Regt on 3 Apr 1862; wounded in action, captured and paroled abt. 29 Sep 1862 (likely after Antietam) at Warrenton, VA while in 4th TX according to pension information as reported in 1906; He went back into the 13th TX infantry and served in that regiment until the end of the war. For some reason the pension was denied, likely because the Soldier, who was 68 at that time, and in bad health could not find his military records as proof; He then filed for pension again in 1914 and it was approved with help from former Soldiers providing the Govt. interrogatories who vouched of his service and truthfulness.
