Service Record: Enlisted in Co A in Aug 1861. Battles included Gettysburg. Mustered out on 09 Apr 1865 at Appomattox Court House, Va. His record shows wounded in action at some point between June and Sept. 1862; went on furlough for wounds but did not return for many months; In Aug 1863 he was listed as deserted (many desertions at this time right after Gettysburg) , but returned Nov 1863; The regiment was not happy and had him forfeit a months pay; Served remainder of war with no leave and surrendered with Army of No Va at Appomattox, VA on 9 Apr 1865
