Service Record: Conscripted to service 9 Oct 1862 in Co. A; Died on 1 May 1863 at Weldon, NC from serious injuries sustained in head-on collision of two trains. He lingered in the hospital for several weeks until he died on the 4th of Jul 1863; this was one day after the 26th had the most casualties as part of Picketts’ Charge at Gettysburg 3 Jul 1863, over 80%, the largest of any regiment during the battle and one of the biggest losses by any regiment during the Civil War.
